Venezuela Defeat Mexico 1-0 to Maintain Perfect Copa America Record

Venezuela Advance to Quarterfinals with Second Group B Win

Salomón Rondón Scores Penalty to Secure Victory

Venezuela continued their impressive start to the Copa America with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mexico on Wednesday night. The win sees Venezuela maintain their perfect record in Group B and advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Salomón Rondón scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute, converting from the penalty spot after Mexico's Héctor Moreno handled the ball in the area. Rondón's goal was his second of the tournament, having also scored in Venezuela's opening 2-1 win over Ecuador.

Venezuela defended resolutely throughout the match, frustrating Mexico's attempts to find an equalizer. Mexico had the better of the chances in the first half, but Venezuela goalkeeper Wuilker Faríñez made a number of smart saves to keep his team in the game.

Venezuela's victory is a major upset, as Mexico were heavily favored to win the match. It is the first time that Venezuela have defeated Mexico in the Copa America.

Venezuela will now face the winner of the Group A match between Uruguay and Argentina in the quarterfinals. The match will be played on Saturday, June 15th.
